Aid Africa's "Give Back the Gold" Garden Party

Last Saturday, just as the mercury hovered around 90, guests gathered at a private home in La Crescenta with their much of their gold and costume jewelry. At one time, this jewelry was considered precious to each of these guests, and on this day, the jewelery would truly be worth it's weight in gold.

Aid Africa is a non-profit organization dedicated towards helping children in Uganda receive food and clean water. In addition, Aid Africa spreads knowledge and demonstrates how to build stoves, drill wells, and repair damaged wells, while simultaneously providing medical care for orphans in need. These are just a few of the projects that Aid Africa has spearheaded in Northern Uganda.

At Aid Africa's "Give Back the Gold" Garden Party, guests were given the opportunity to have their gold and costume jewelry appraised and to donate the proceeds directly to Aid Africa.

What A Trade Show!

More than just a tradeshow, the Western Foodservice and Hospitality Expo was a complete learning experience for restaurateurs, caterers and world-renown chefs. From latest products, to innovative tricks of the trade, the Expo brought practical, real-life solutions that event professionals can apply to their own businesses.

In addition, demonstrations, contests and amazing food displays filled the San Diego Convention Hall from end to end, as exhibitors tempted buyers and participants to sample their items, which included anything from oysters in the half shell to countless selections of specialty champagnes.

Standout exhibits included sugar-paste floral fondant wedding cakes, a swan made of white chocolate and specially carved melons. A personal favorite was a beach bag and hat cake, complete with an IPOD and intricately designed starfish.
